LVB News: The Offseason Begins
Thursday, April 14th, 1927
Wait until next year!
That is the battle cry for the fans of all but one LVB team. While the 1927 champs get to brag to their buddies about the championship, it's time for general managers to rehash last year and figure out ways to improve their teams. It is the offseason in baseball. The diamonds and the stadiums are void of activity, but the front offices are bristling with energy. Good teams want to stay good -- bad teams want to get good -- and all teams want to get better.

So get ready for the ecstasy of a superstar savior's signing, the joy of re-signing a valuable performer, but also the heartbreak of losing a bidding war or saying farewell to that retiring vet. Nothing is happening on the field, but off the field, the offseason is rarely dull.

You may now vote for the league award winners, the option is available in the league menu.
Flores Is LVB Batting Champ
Wednesday, April 13th, 1927
To hit .377 in La Liga Venezolana de Béisbol is an extraordinary feat.

It becomes even more outstanding when you consider it was done by a 23-year-old.

Alejandro Flores of the Maracaibo Piratas is your La Liga Venezolana de Béisbol batting champion.

On the year, Flores collected 63 hits, 13 doubles, 5 triples and 2 home runs for the year. In 41 games Flores totaled 22 RBIs and scored 32 runs.
Montoya Gets LVB Triple Crown
Wednesday, April 13th, 1927
What a season Efrain Montoya had this year. The ace of the Caracas Cerveceros led the La Liga Venezolana de Béisbol in all the major pitching categories. He ranked first in wins, ERA and strikeouts to capture the Pitching Triple Crown.

In his epic season the talented Montoya finished with an outstanding 11-2 won-loss record, a 1.29 ERA and 58 strikeouts to top all other pitchers and put himself in line for the prestigious El Lanzador del Año.

"I hadn't thought much about the triple crown," confessed Montoya. "I just go out and throw the ball. That's all there is to it. All I want to lead the league in is wins."

His manager told BNN, "Efrain makes my job easier. I rest easy knowing he is penciled in to start. He just goes out there to dominate the hitters. He doesn't like them. I don't think he ever met a batter he liked. We don't even let him throw batting practice."
